Sonic Branding(Sonic Branding)

The practice of using sound to build brand recognition, recall, and emotional association. Canonical examples include the Intel chime (1994–) and the Netflix “ta-dum” (2015–). Growing penetration of voice interfaces, podcasts, and video advertising has elevated sonic branding from a TV-era add-on to a core identity channel.

Signature sounds are typically compressed into short motifs of a few seconds, allowing mere-exposure repetition across many touchpoints to accumulate affinity. Placement at emotional peaks in the customer journey — purchase completion, first-use success — leverages emotional encoding to deepen memory consolidation.
